The Glitch Mob Love Death Immortality

Originally formed in Los Angeles in 2006 and currently a three-piece, The Glitch Mob plays a thick, pounding style of electronica that draws from influences including dance, hip-hop and – of course – glitch. Their sophomore album is a departure from their 2010 debut full-length Drink the Sea, which had a more subtle and slow-building structure. Love Death Immortality is a more electrifying and energetic fist-pumping experience, incorporating a lot more EDM and dubstep-style elements to create more of a “party” atmosphere when I saw them live on November 1st. Personally, I love this sound: it gives me a huge, otherworldly rush when I feel the soaring blare of anthem-like songs such as “Skytoucher” and “Carry the Sun.” There are a great handful of songs featuring guest vocalists as well, with my favorites being the ones with Aja Volkman and Sister Crayon providing lovely, emotional voices backed by intense bursts of synth.
