Michael Rault Living Daylight
Michael Rault Living Daylight(Burger)
Here’s a Canadian singer-songwriter/multi-instrumentalist whose makes breezy, candy-sweet psych-rock with a recurring theme of being lovesick. Michael Rault draws influences from 60s and 70s rock for his catchy tunes: the trippy “Dancing with Tears in My Eyes”, for example, definitely channels The Beatles’ most colorfully hallucinogenic work. “All Alone (On My Own)” is easily relatable, lamenting how it feels when really want to go out but are too tired.

Reatards
Grown Up, Fucked Up [Reissue]
Reatards Grown Up Fucked Up(Goner)
Originally released on Empty Records in 1999, the Reatards’ second album captures the Memphis garage punk band in their raw, heavily-distorted glory with two guitarists, one drummer and everyone contributing vocals. Late lead singer Jay Reatard – who was only 18 at the time – has plenty to scream about with his wild presence, fueled by difficult experiences such as getting dumped. Now reissued with three bonus tracks from the “You’re So Lewd” seven-inch, this record is still as invigorating as it is raucous.
