Kan Wakan Moving On
(The Verve Music Group)

Based in Los Angeles, Kan Wakan (the moniker of main songwriter and instrumentalist Gueorgui I. Linev) create a lush, accomplished symphonic rock sound (the album’s producers include Grammy winners Tom Elmhirst and Darrell Thorp, whose credits include Radiohead, Adele and Amy Winehouse.) Singer Kristianne Bautista’s soulful and haunting vocals complement the mood excellently for a classy and space-y sound based on strings, guitar, keyboards and more. Kan Wakan also have an upcoming follow-up album – Phantasmagoria – slated for release next month.
