Grouper Grid of Points
(Kranky)
Born in Northern California and raised in a commune called “The Group” (which inspired the name of this project), musician and producer Liz Harris typically creates music with ambient, dream-pop and folk elements. On this latest release, she strips away fuzzy-sounding filters for a starkly beautiful, haunting experience of resonant piano and vocals. Written and recorded in Wyoming, the album has a pastoral mood, isolated from the hustle-and-bustle of the coast, instead relying on delicate-but-effective, minimal instrumentation to fill the space.
