Dealers at Counterweight Record Festival 2

If you’re wondering who the dealers will be for the 2nd Record Festival we’re hosting at Counterweight Brewing Co. then check out this list!

Here are the dealers we have slated to join us on May 19th in alphabetical order. Come out and find them in Hamden in a couple Sundays!

George Audette – George is among many returning vendors. We’ve been scoring some nice records from his 50% Off Jazz Bins!  Great source for solid rock staples as well!

Bad Kitty –  Former store owner from the Midwest who transplanted to CT a couple years back and now a fine dealer with classic rock, blues, jazz and some off the beaten path gems. You might also recognize the fellow behind the table from various fairs (he generally has a display wall and record player for checking stuff out for quality or sound) and you can check out the online presence here (he’ll often post videos of recent highlights before events so keep an eye out!).

John Bastone – John runs the Record Riots around the North East (there are many!). Former store owner and general music fanatic. Check out the podcast we did with him here. He does a regular radio show Tuesdays 7-10PM on WBXO.

DomCasual – Our friend Dino you might recognize from various record fairs on the east coast including WFMU . He loves a good 12″ single and carries a lot of them.  Solid selection – check out his Discogs shop here. Catch him at Alamo Drafthouse (Yonkers) hosting the Video Vortex!

Get Awesome Records – What’s your idea of awesome? If it’s metal, hardcore punk, noise and other unhinged forms of music then yes, Logan will set you up.  He’s a daytime employee of Napalm Records and you can check the Discogs shop for him here.  Happy to have him heading up from NY for this!

Ben Michael –  WESU General Manager. If you’ve been to the WESU record fair then you might have seen Big Bent scrambling around organizing and trying to sell from his own table when he’s got a moment. At this fest he won’t need to do all the scrambling so help him relax and look through his wares!

Dr. Wu – Past WESU personality / host of a very fine blues show. He also creates our favorite (and maybe yours) record cleaning fluid! He’ll be stocked with 2 tables full of a variety of fine used fare from the aforementioned blues to soul to rock and roll and all that falls in the cracks between.

Painkiller Records – Chris from Painkiller came on last minute last year with a nice selection of used punk, hardcore, and general rock and roll in addition to some of his label releases. In addition to Painkiller Chris will likely have goods from Radio Raheem and Hell Massacre.

Record Cellar – Neil has a diverse selection of clean records priced to move!

Records The Good Kind – They’ve got a shop up in Vernon and you might have heard Ian on our podcast here.  Great selection and if you want to talk about indie pop there’s none better. Check out their store online here.

Redscroll Records – That’s us! You probably know us and we hope you have some love for us. We’ll have 2 tables! One table will be full of 45s we’re bringing out of storage (unseen to the public as yet) that will all be 50 Cents! The second table will be LPs used and new!

Slipped Disc Records – Slipped Disc Records of NY will be at the show with a brand new collection of punk, new wave, 60’s/ 70’s rock and metal titles. There will be hundreds of new arrivals including King Crimson half speed masters, Ramones LP’s (signed by Johnny and Dee Dee), first presses and promos from Radio Birdman, Flamin’ Groovies, Richard Hell, X Ray Spex, Wire, Cramps, Stooges, Elf, Gun, The Move, plus much more. They will also be bringing over 1,000 sealed reissues including titles from Budgie, Suede, Slowdive, Mike Ness, Fu Manchu, Joy Division, The Smiths, and countless others.

The Telegraph – New London’s musical hub. Live acts make their way through this community-centric spot pretty often. Check what they have going on online here. We interviewed Rich Martin from The Telegraph on our podcast here.

Trash American Style – Malcolm Tent helms this enterprise. You might recognize the name because he is a legend. You might recognize it because T.A.S. was integral to the CT music community as a brick and mortar enterprise for multitudes of years. Having moved on from the shackles of a brick and mortar you might also recognize M.T. as a troubadour (and new touring member of Antiseen!). Check him out here and his store out here online. Oh, and he was on the podcast too! Check that here.

Vinyl Destination – Dave is a great guy with a great shop up in Lowell, MA . Mill No. 5 is where the shop resides and it’s, in general, quintessential New England and an ideal record shop locale. We’re glad he can bring a bit of his shop down to us! Check Vinyl Destination online here.

Willimantic Records – Joe has created a shop that is just as much a venue in various ways: a full live schedule and it currently has an art show in conjunction with the UConn Archives which is an exhibition of photogrphas take at the Anthrax Club in Norwalk in the 1980s by Joe Snow (that runs through August 9th).  He’s got a website here. Very much a community oriented shop in the best tradition with art showings and live acts frequently.
