Black Friday Mixtape Give-Away!

What has become a tradition (this being the third year) with us at Black Friday is that we assemble some of the best acts in the state onto a mixtape (actual cassette) to be given away FREE to the first folks through (100 tapes) during our Holiday Sale (Black Friday, Small Business Saturday and Sunday… if they last that long).

This year the compilation includes the following bands (in order of appearance):

CASSETTE STORE DAY 2019

Hey all, Cassette Store Day is this Saturday, October 12th, 2019.
We’ll be open normal hours, 12-8PM.
We’ll have some select Cassette Store Day specific titles.

ALL CASSETTE TAPES FOR THAT DAY ARE HALF OFF! New and used! Tapes that cost 50 cents will be 25 cents! Math!

We’re also bringing 20 (TWENTY!) crates full of live tapes up from the basement that will all be $1 each (flat price – not half off those)! Lots of Rock, Prog, Avantgarde from the 1970s through the 1990s.

Announcing: Phemale “Mono No Aware Pt. 1” Cassette

We are releasing a cassette version of Phemale, “Mono No Aware Pt. 1” and it comes out on July 19th! Next Friday! It is a very limited release of just 25 tapes so you’ll want to hop on this one. The “City Silk” release on LP we did with Phemale in 2013 still gets a steady play here and we’re super stoked to be able to do this one!

As opposed to “City Silk” this one (Mono) is without vocals and is a soundtrack component to a short film (if you came to the sold out Boy Harsher show at State House you got a viewing of it). If you’re familiar with the theatrical aspect of the Phemale live show the next step in his metamorphosis into a beautiful lunar moth is here (ok, I might be reaching now, but you get it).

Still very much in the cold wave minimal style with leanings toward other otherworldly beat-makers and still very compelling and begging for a re-listen often.
