To those not aware, Herc has been actively working on an issue that has hit him very closely – Health Care. Check this article about his most recent scare: OneThirtyBPM. And check his site, http://www.djkoolherc.com/, for his own statement and information. This event is free, but I’m betting there will be a way to donate towards this cause and I’m sure it won’t be the spot light for any worried about that. This will be about hot jams and a good time for FREE!

Urban 12s

Urban 12s = Urban 12″ singles

We’ve recently come into a collection of a lot of these.  They range from the early 1980’s to the late 1990’s.  Do you remember (or at least know about) big plastic Africa medallions?   Compton being put on the map?  New Jack Swing?  Ladies making their mark in a man’s world?  Sports stars trying to bite into the pop music market? Take a look at a sampling of what we have recently come across and remember (or see for the first time) these marvels.  Beyond (and including) the kitsch there are some really great 12″s here.

Tons more pictures after the break (get it, the break… har har har).

SATURDAY: Hip-Hop New Haven

SATURDAY: Hip-Hop in New Haven brought to you by our friend DJ Lokash (Bassment Beats).

You might remember that for our 3rd Anniversary Celebratory week we did a hip-hop show at Cafe 9. It was such a success and great time that Lokash decided to step it up and bring some more hip-hop to the Elm City. Mizery Crew is returning. Choque Kultural, Sketch Tha Cataclysm and YC The Cynic are also bringing it this time around. (There is also a promise of “Special Guests.” More CT locals? Maybe Blitz the Ambassador (Lokash has a cameo in Blitz’s latest video). Maybe Bisco will be back? No matter who they may or may not be this show is already stacked.)

Saturday Night at 9PM $5 21+
DJ Lokash & Bassment Beats present:
Mizery Crew
YC The Cynic
Sketch Tha Cataclysm
Choque Kultural
