Manic Presents / Premier Concerts Update 07-18-2019

The weekly Manic Presents Redscroll Blog is back! You know the drill, we’re here to fill you in on the newest show announcements and remind you of the other great live events we have in store. Just announced at College Street Music Hall – Progressive rock act Claudio Simonetti’s Goblin is set to perform the live score to the 1975 Italian giallo film “Deep Red (Profondo Rosso)” on Saturday (9/21). At Space Ballroom – Largely instrumental psychedelic rock outfit Earthless performs with Maggot Heart and Sacri Monti on Friday (10/11), six-sister acapella group and viral sensation Cimorelli plays a matinee show on Saturday (10/19), country blues three-piece The Reverend Peyton’s Big Damn Band will hit the stage with former Carolina Chocolate Drops member Dom Flemons and the Legendary Shack Shakers own JD Wilkes on Sunday (11/17). Don’t forget to grab your tickets today!

This week’s show schedule begins TONIGHT (7/18) with Comedian Nick Kroll at College Street Music Hall! Friday (7/19) features two great shows with Conor Oberst (Bright Eyes, Better Oblivion Community Center) at Wall Street Theater in Norwalk with Joanna Sternberg and iconic alt-rock duo Local H at Space Ballroom with opener Marvelous Liars. The very next night (7/20), Bay Area rockers Midnight North (feat. Grahame Lesh – son of Grateful Dead bassist Phil Lesh) play at the Space Ballroom with support from The Backyard Committee and Tracy Jo & The Toads. Coming to Cafe Nine as part of our Manic Monday music series on Monday (7/22), funeral doom metal group UN will share the stage with Wormwitch and Chained to the Bottom of the Ocean. On Tuesday (7/23) Space Ballroom welcomes a co-headlining show featuring Real Estate’s own Martin Courtney with New York via Chicago singer-songwriter Ryley Walker. Closing out a jam-packed string of shows, Loma Prieta and Jeromes Dream co-headline Space Ballroom featuring very special guests They and the Children and CORRODE (feat. former members of Orchid and Ampere). It’s a busy week for Connecticut shows, so get your tickets before it’s too late!

At Space Ballroom – SNL cast member and comedian Pete Davidson performs an intimate show on Saturday (7/27), LGBTQ+ podcast Food 4 Thot Live! on Friday (8/2), electronic musician Com Truise on Wednesday (9/18), the brainchild of Kevin Barnes, of Montreal, with Locate S,1 on Saturday (10/26), and Nashville-based singer-songwriter Liza Anne in the Front Room on Tuesday (11/12). And lastly and as part of as part of our weekly Manic Monday series at Cafe Nine – psychedelic afro-soul revivalists The Gentleman Brawlers with Thabisa and Ro Godwynn on (8/12). On Monday (7/15) Nashville via Havana neo soul band Sweet Lizzy Project with Esor Rose and Fernanda and The Ephemeral come to Cafe Nine as part of our Manic Monday music series. On Tuesday (7/16) Little Steven and the Disciples of Soul featuring founding member of Bruce Springsteen’s E Street Band, Steven Van Zandt, come to College Street Music Hall. And finally, on Wednesday (7/17), post/progressive rock band Covet with Vasudeva and Holy Fawn come to Space Ballroom. Be sure to get your tickets today!

On Wednesday (7/3), folk/soul husband-wife duo The War and Treaty performs at Space Ballroom with Philippe Bronchtein. On the following Monday (7/8), local favorite Ports of Spain will be at Cafe Nine for our weekly Manic Mondays series with Holy Tunic and Shy. On Tuesday (7/9) Scottihs synth-pop band CHVRCHES makes their CT debut at College Street Music Hall with Speedy Ortiz. And finally, on Wednesday (7/10), Detroit indie rocker Stef Chura comes to Space Ballroom with French Vanilla and Steve Harlett (Stove, Ovlov). Make sure to grab your tickets!

Just announced at College Street Music Hall – The long-running improv podcast hosted by Scott Aukerman (known for his work on HBO’s Mr. Show with David and Bob) Comedy Bang! Bang! Live! the long-running improv podcast hosted by Scott Aukerman (known for his work on HBO’s Mr. Show with David and Bob) featuring guests Lauren Lapkus and Paul F. Tompkins on Friday (8/23) and Los Angeles metal outfit In This Moment on Friday (10/18) with support from Ded and Little Miss Nasty! Just announced at Space Ballroom –  genre-blending multi-instrumentalist Cautious Clay on Thursday (12/12)! Lastly, at Cafe Nine – New York psych-pop act Shana Falana on Monday (9/9) and Athens, Georgia self-proclaimed “nice-guy” rock quintet Walden on Monday (10/7) featuring TAME (The Aspiring Me)! Be sure to grab your tickets to these awesome shows!

This week’s show schedule begins Thursday (6/20) with indie-rockers Sebadoh (fronted by Dinosaur Jr’s Lou Barlow) at Space Ballroom with DIY punks Waveless! The venue won’t stay quiet for long, as Space Ballroom welcomes Kristin Hersh (of Throwing Muses) and her electric trio the very next night, Friday (6/21) with support from former Throwing Muses bandmate Fred Abong! College Street Music Hall opens its doors for low-fi indie rock act Car Seat Headrest on Saturday (6/22) with openers Naked Giants. Only a few tickets left on the floor, more just opened in the balcony!  As part of the Manic Monday series at Cafe Nine, folk-pop group Bombadil shares a co-headlining slot with Chicago folk-rockers Ohmme with support from Daphne Lee Martin on Monday (6/24)! Lastly, Wednesday (6/26) will have Connecticut rocking as College Street Music Hall is set to host a co-headliner featuring ska-punk powerhouse Reel Big Fish and Texas pop-punks Bowling For Soup with openers The Zambonis. Space Ballroom will get in on the action as well, as Spencer Krug (of Wolf Parade and Moonface) will grace the stage, featuring Light Conductor (members of Besnard Lakes / Young Galaxy) as direct support! Do yourself a favor and come check out one of these sure to be fantastic shows!

Monday (6/17) Cafe Nine will host Sketch tha cataclysm as part of our Manic Monday music series with support from Sotorios, AQMNI Kings and DJ Mo Niklz. Wednesday (6/19) is a jam-packed night, as College Street Music Hall welcomes The Milk Carton Kids with Twain, and the Space Ballroom presents Thank You Scientist with Bent Knee and Head With Wings!
