RSR PC 044 Record Store Day 2021 Talk

On this episode of the podcast we answer the questions submitted via Instagram and talk about Record Store Day 2021 in general (RSD Drops 1 & 2, June 12th and July 17th).

We talk about what we’re listening to, about what we’re looking forward to from RSD, about what we’ve liked from the past and what we’d hope to have released in the future (RSD or otherwise) and of course a bit more. This is a nice quick listen with lots of music and some information on how we’re running the June 12th drop date for RSD 2021.  More information about how we’re running things at this link.

Record Store Day Drop 1 Virtual Line Time Slot Sign Up

It is once again time for Record Store Day(s). This year Record Store Day is split into 2 separate drops. The first one is on June 12th and the second is on July 17th.

Today, we are opening sign ups for our virtual line which puts you in a queue for JUNE 12th – the first of the RSD Drop days. July’s virtual line sign ups will begin on a day to be announced after June 12th.

Starting today at noon we’re going to start taking spot reservations for the first RSD Drop on June 12th. To reserve a time slot for RSD browsing please come into the store between now and June 11th to sign up at the front counter (to give your name and phone number). This part has to be done in person. We’re doing this to limit traffic flow for the line sign ups itself and for the RSD Drop day. The appointments will be an hour long and will be maxed out at 15 people per hour. Time slots will start at 8AM and run until 3PM.

Directions for RSD 2021 Drop 1 (June 12th, 2021):
1.  Come to the store and sign up. You may sign up for yourself with your name and phone number. We are also allowing people to sign up for one guest, but we will also be collecting the information of that person as well (name and phone number). If your guest is hypothetical or tentative or any other type of maybe do not sign them up.

2. Show up on June 12th at your designated time and in the order of the sign up sheet we will let you browse and buy from the RSD Drop titles.  RSD titles will be set up in an area separate from the main store and traffic inside the main store will still be limited to 10 people at a time (no appointment needed for that). If you miss your designated time your slot will be forfeit and you will have to wait until after 3PM.

We are not reserving spots by phone, email or any other method so please do not ask. Spots must be reserved in person.

If you know anyone who is a fan of Record Store Day that may not follow us on social media or check our website frequently then please do help us out by spreading the word!

After 3PM on June 12th we will be bringing the RSD Drop 1 titles into the main store. If you’ve missed your appointment you may come at that time, however, we are still only allowing 10 people in the store at a time so please make your best effort to sign up ahead of time and keep your appointment to avoid a line! All of this preparation is being done in order to minimize a crowd and we appreciate all of your help and cooperation to help with that goal!

Masks required, of course. 😷

We welcomed some folks in tonight via a social media post and it went well! Thanks to everyone who’s already come by! Looking forward to so many more folks coming through!

On Friday we will be open from 8AM-8PM!

We will have some RSDBF items and they are listed below. This is our system for that:
1. Show up early.
2. Sign up for your place in line on our clipboard by the door. No emails or phone calls to reserve your place. You have to physically go and sign up. (Sign up sheet will go out some time randomly Thursday night. We’ll post on social media when it’s out.)
3. Wait until 8AM (in your car or wherever you want, but be ready to come in when it’s your turn).
4. At 8AM we will start calling or texting (preference noted on sign up sheet) people to come inside. We’ll have our bay door open for maximum air flow and there will be a 10 person maximum capacity in place. Masks are required (worn properly over nose and mouth), keep 6 feet of distancing between people and hand sanitizer will be at the door for use upon entry.
5. Shop! Have fun! It’s a new experience in a new place! Please try to limit your time during this first visit so we can keep the line system running smooth.

If you are not looking for Black Friday titles it might be wise to wait until later in the day to come by when there won’t be as long a wait time. Continue reading Black Friday / Grand Opening / RSDBF Update

RSD DROP 3 VIRTUAL LINE!

This coming Saturday is the next RSD Drop date (Ocober 24th, 2020) and we will have some of those titles as we did last month. The store will not be open for walk-ins and there will be no physical line for this stuff, but rather a virtual line. It will work the same way it did for September. Details below.

We are open by appointment for in store shopping.  Details on that here: https://redscrollrecords.com/2020/09/october-5th-start-appointment-shopping.html

We are doing curbside service – details here (no appointment needed for this): https://redscrollrecords.com/2020/05/25th-of-may-2020-update-curbside-pick-up.html

We are also buying collections by appointment. Please give us a call or send an email for that. (203)265-7013 redscroll@gmail.com

First off, there will be no physical line so do not come to the store early to get in line.  On Friday at 6PM we will post the available titles on our website.

If you’d like to get in our “Virtual Line” for these titles then heed these instructions:

  1. Email us with your Name and Phone Number (NOW!). Our email = redscroll@gmail.com
  2. Await the reply that will confirm your place in line. Something like, “Thanks! You are #XX in line…”
  3. Saturday morning starting at 10AM will start calling folks in the order that has been set (by order of those emails that have come in and have been confirmed). Be sure to be ready to get a call from us!
  4. We will take your order and have it set aside for curbside pick up. (Curbside Pick Up protocol can be found at this link.) We will confirm the time you are coming to make sure we don’t have too many folks arriving at the same time as well.
  5. Come pick it up!

If at any point after you have confirmed your place in line you decide you would like to forfeit your spot please let us know.  Continue reading RSD DROP 3 VIRTUAL LINE!

Record Store Day Drop 2 Update (9/26/2020 Releases)

RECORD STORE DAY DROP 2 UPDATE

Firstly we’ll go over again what our protocol is for tomorrow!

Our shop is still closed for walk-in shopping.

We are doing “curb-side” service – details here: https://redscrollrecords.com/2020/05/25th-of-may-2020-update-curbside-pick-up.html

Record Store Day this year has been split into three RSD DROPS which are happening/happened the last weekend of August, end of September and end of October. The second of those is tomorrow!

There will be no physical line so do not come to the store early to get in line.

The list of available RSD Drop 1 titles is below this explanation. Prices are included this year.

The virtual line started on Monday. Explanation of that in our last post here: https://redscrollrecords.com/2020/09/rsd-drop-2-get-in-virtual-line.html

If you are currently in the virtual line and you see that what you are looking for is not here and you’d like to get off the call list please let us know by replying to that email. If there’s any reason at all you’d like to give up your spot in line just email us. (redscroll@gmail.com)

You are still able to get in line, but keep in mind you will be added to the end of the line and it is a long one right now.

Records that are not claimed or picked up by 6PM tomorrow (RSD Drop 1 Day) will be listed online then.

We look forward to talking to and seeing many of you tomorrow! In the parking lot, wearing a mask with you in your car.

Before the list we’d like to reiterate that these are uncertain times and 2 months ago when we placed the order for these records things were also uncertain so we did not go extremely heavy on ordering – certainly we didn’t order like we would have for a normally scheduled non-pandemic event day. That said, we hope we can please and fulfill the requests of a good deal of you all. And of course, as is the nature of these things, much of what we ordered didn’t make it in time so we’ll post about those as we receive them. And if you have a request for something please let us know next week with an email or phone call and we can check on its availability. All that said, here’s what we will have available… Continue reading Record Store Day Drop 2 Update (9/26/2020 Releases)
