Live Music: Bassment Beats/New World Show Presents !¡YAKI PA’YAH!¡

“…uniting musicians, visual artists, and dancers from around the world to bridge the gaps between movements ‘from here to there’ through bass.”

Bassment Beats and New World Show from WESU 88.1FM will host a new monthly series: !¡YAKI PA’YAH!¡ (pronunciation guide = de aquí para allá, but faster) an event that unites musicians, visual artists, and dancers from around the world to bridge the gaps between the various movements ‘from here to there’ through bass.

From the barrios to the burbs; the condos to the conjuntos; the high-rises to the hilltops- there is one thing all people have in common: a desire to dance to the sounds of bass rhythms. It’s what makes us undulate while it modulates.

This first installment of !¡YAKI PA’YAH!¡ stars Geko Jones from Brooklyn, NY. The Puertolombian (Puerto Rican & Colombian) tropical bass specialist is a seminal member of the Dutty Artz crew. He is also one of the co-founders of the world-famous “Qué Bajo?!” party in New York City.

DJ LOKASH, your resident yaki, will be making his last public Connecticut performance of 2012 with an eclectic set of bass-heavy transnational sounds featuring a very special appearance by Lady Elizabeth.

Kilbourne from New Jersey will also be dropping his latest Philly Bass creations as well as supporting his Faye Reagan EP on Rebel Records from earlier this year.

There will be additional special guests along with visuals by You B (the Stepkids), spacepirate.co.uk, Geoff Rasco, Channel1 and others. Plus, giveaways by SkateShopSwap and Redscroll Records (that’s us).
