RSR PC 012 John Bastone (Record Riots)

On this month’s episode we talk to John Bastone.

If you’ve been to any of the Record Riots (there’s about 8 of them currently – record fairs that occur in Cromwell, New Haven, East Hartford, Trumbull, New Jersey…) then you’ve most likely seen John and very likely heard him. He’s a boisterous personality with a great love for pop rock and music in general. We talk about the stores he once owned, running fairs, trends in the music selling business, and y’know music and stuff. Couple neat anecdotes in the mix – one of which about a burgeoning star that once worked for John.

RSR PC 011 State House New Haven

Los (left) & Rick (right) at The Grove

On this month’s episode we talk to Carlos (Los) Wells and Rick Omonte of the soon opening State House venue in New Haven. We talk about the many aspects of opening a venue and focus on what will be happening there (shows, screenings, meet-ups…). We veer off into band territory with Rick (who is a member of Mountain Movers and a multitude of former bands) and into record label territory with Los (who runs Safety Meeting Records). And we surely veered off into other tidbits here and there too.

RSR PC 009 Ryan White

Current Ryan White Picture on Old StabYouInTheHead Poster

On this month’s episode we talk with Ryan White. Call It Arson and Stab You In The Head (And Eat Your Face Off) are both bands he was in and have releases on the Redscroll Records label (full disclosure). We talk about those bands and his current bands Zero Hour & Cast in Blood. And we talk about his solo work and upcoming project with Pete Morcey, Murmur. We talk about Star Wars and Black Market Kitchen and Charles Bronson and Spazz and soundtracks and so on.

Music on the episode starts and ends with some live audio from Call It Arson playing the Mitch Dubey Benefit at Toad’s Place. A solo track and a track from Murmur are featured as well.

Ryan also wants to give some shouts to bands he didn’t get to mention in the episode for one reason or another so check these folks out: Typecaste, Hatred Remains, Atonement, Revenge Season, Vatican, No Idea, Dumlords and Glory.  Says Ryan, “I actually love them.”

Correction to one thing Ryan mentions as well. He mentions that he’s playing a show with Mongoloids when he actually meant World Demise (which has a member of Mongoloids).

RSR PC 008 Perennial (Chelsea & Chad)

Chelsea (foreground) & Chad (just beyond Chelsea) of Perennial

On this month’s show we talk to Chelsea & Chad of Perennial, a rock band from Connecticut, about their heavy late 90’s – early 00’s Dischord influences, their drummer Will & The Simpsons, and basic goings on of the band and more music and such. Intro and outro music from their live set at Willimantic Records (which you can watch on the Willimantic Records YouTube page).

And here’s a couple links re: Simpsons talk on the show:
