If you’ve been to any of the Record Riots(there’s about 8 of them currently – record fairs that occur in Cromwell, New Haven, East Hartford, Trumbull, New Jersey…) then you’ve most likely seen John and very likely heard him. He’s a boisterous personality with a great love for pop rock and music in general. We talk about the stores he once owned, running fairs, trends in the music selling business, and y’know music and stuff. Couple neat anecdotes in the mix – one of which about a burgeoning star that once worked for John.
On this month’s episode we talk to Carlos (Los) Wells and Rick Omonte of the soon opening State House venue in New Haven. We talk about the many aspects of opening a venue and focus on what will be happening there (shows, screenings, meet-ups…). We veer off into band territory with Rick (who is a member of Mountain Movers and a multitude of former bands) and into record label territory with Los (who runs Safety Meeting Records). And we surely veered off into other tidbits here and there too.
This month we talk to Aaron and Daron from Landing. We talk about their band of course. We also talk a bit about Utah, where they originally formed, and their (now former) Mormon background and of course some other odd things here and there.
Correction to one thing Ryan mentions as well. He mentions that he’s playing a show with Mongoloids when he actually meant World Demise (which has a member of Mongoloids).
On this month’s show we talk to Chelsea & Chad of Perennial, a rock band from Connecticut, about their heavy late 90’s – early 00’s Dischord influences, their drummer Will & The Simpsons, and basic goings on of the band and more music and such. Intro and outro music from their live set at Willimantic Records (which you can watch on the Willimantic Records YouTube page).
