Cloud Boat Model of You

(Apollo)
This London indie electronic duo’s second album is brimming with a combination of scattered drum loops, glimmering synth and passionate vocals: they describe it as “downcast dubstep and melancholy folk that lies somewhere between Burial and Hood.” Indeed, lead single “Carmine” is an example of swirling electronics, rich strings and near-ghostly vocals for a lovely, blurry nostalgia trip. The tender, downcast “Bricks Are For” is another favorite, with subdued instrumentation to convey a feeling not unlike that of an abandoned home’s desolate tranquility.
