Chastity Belt Time to Go Home
(Hardly Art)
On their second full-length, this Walla Walla, Washington-spawned all-female indie rock band sounds reflective and somewhat melancholy about life experiences such as partying and relationships. Using a catchy lo-fi style that incorporates alternative rock, surf rock and noise pop, Chastity Belt cover topics ranging from a relaxed view toward promiscuity (“Cool Slut”) to the title track’s realization that a party has run its course (“everything is beautiful / because we’re delusional”). Another highlight track is “Joke”, with chilled-out surf rock accompanying lyrics about getting high and wanting to light everything on fire.
