Mark Lanegan Has God Seen My Shadow? An Anthology 1989-2011
(Light in the Attic)
Mark Lanegan’s decades-spanning career as a gruff, smoky-voiced singer-guitarist includes being the front-man for grunge/psych-rock band Screaming Trees; a vocalist for Queens of the Stone Age and a collaborator with multiple projects including Isobel Campbell. This compilation collects songs from the first six albums of his lower-key solo career, as well as unreleased material including live tracks. One highlight for me is Lanegan’s cover of “Big White Cloud” by John Cale, providing emotion-rich vocals to mellotron-powered instrumentation.
