John Doe The Best of John Doe: This Far
(Yep Roc)
Best known for his work with classic Los Angeles punk band X (as co-founder and also bassist/co-vocalist), John Doe (born John Nommensen Duchac) is also active as a solo artist spanning the alternative, folk and country-rock genres. This compilation consists of John’s hand-picked favorite songs throughout his solo career, starting with his 1990 debut album Meet John Doe. He lets his raw emotion shine through on tracks such as “Take #52” (about trying to record a song about lost love after having experienced it personally) and “grain of salt” (about hoping that someone will accept the feelings of love that have developed inside him like a pearl.)
