Panda Bear
Buoys
(Domino)
One of the founding members of Animal Collective, singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Noah Lennox goes for a more sparse and melancholy sound on this sixth solo album. With the help of collaborator and producer Rusty Santos (whom Lennox last worked with for Panda Bear’s widely acclaimed 2007 record Person Pitch), the resulting neo-psychedelic-pop sound is a more intimate and textural one. “Dolphin” provides an immersive atmosphere with its minimal guitar, beat and drip-drop sounds, all providing a foundation for Lennox’s rich vocals (they also shine when multi-layered for the uptempo, arcade-electronics-laced ‘Token”.)
