Thee Tsunamis Saturday Night Sweetheart
(Magnetic South)
This Bloomington, Indiana band is all about bubblegum garage rock with a hooky lo-fi sound unmistakably reminiscent of good old rock ‘n’ roll. The fuzzed-out guitar work really shines on “Drag,” packing a serious punch on the breaks between vocals. The irresistible, hook-filled “Cry Baby” is another highlight for me, sounding like a nostalgic moonlit night in the 50s.
