Sundays & Cybele Chaos & Systems
(Beyond Beyond is Beyond)
Named after a 1962 French movie about the friendship between a young girl and a veteran of the French Indochina War, Sundays & Cybele are a psychedelic/acid rock band originally formed in Hokkaido, Japan (now based in Tokyo) in 2004. Their dazzling music sounds unmistakably seeped in their native culture, from the vocals to the Eastern-flavored rock melodies conjuring up mental images of Japanese nature and artwork. The nine-minute “Butterfly’s Dream” is an electrifying highlight, with both the vocal and instrumental passages showing off kaleidoscopic energy.
