3rd Of January 2014 Update of New and Key Restocked Items + Reviews + Lee Ranaldo And The Dust Ticket Give-Away!
at Redscroll Records

Before the update let’s quickly get you acquainted with our Lee Ranaldo And The Dust event ticket give-away. Manic Productions has a show coming up next Thursday with this fine group and Steve Gunn. You can visit this event listing for the full details on the Manic site. To get a pair of tickets come into the store and ask about the give-away for this.

Here’s the game part: Lee Ranaldo and Steve Shelley (who plays in The Dust) were also in Sonic Youth. When was the last time Sonic Youth played New Haven and where?
Tell us at the store and claim your prize: A pair of tickets to next Thursday’s gig!

The actual update part of today’s post is pretty abbreviated with it coming on the heels of the holidays. Definitely look back at the last couple if you missed those. Next week’s should be back to normal size with many deliveries already scheduled.

Quick word on weather around this time of year and how it effects our hours. Well, first off and generally, it does effect our hours and it does so in accordance to how safe we feel it is to get to work ourselves and how safe we think it is to be open in general for all involved (me, you, everybody). We generally will cross-post on all the social medias and might even make a post on our website about what hours are effected (early closing, late opening or whole day closings). If you want to know the quickest we generally will tweet about it before all else so follow us on twitter (@redscroll). With that said, we’ll see how tomorrow is once the storm arrives and announce however it effects us in the avenues mentioned. If we’re open normally we’ll probably still announce that on days with poor weather as well. Happy travels and be safe!

And in case you missed it and could use it check out our Holiday Gift Ideas blog post here.

27th Of November (BLACKOUT AT SUNRISE SALE/BLACK FRIDAY EDITION) 2013 Update of New and Key Restocked Items + Reviews
at Redscroll Records

The sale is upon us! We can’t wait to see all the glorious people that will come throughout the weekend’s events. The sale lasts all weekend, but the limited Black Friday Record Store Day titles will of course move fast so we do expect a line before we open at 6AM Friday. Quantities on a lot of these are super limited (DMB boxes are out of a mere 1,000 so we were lucky to score the few we did for instance). As with all these high demand low quantity items if you are intent on getting any of them please do plan accordingly and line up cordially and friendly and with an overall excellent attitude knowing that even if you don’t get exactly what you’re looking for you’ll get to hang out with like minded music enthusiasts and pick up some other great regularly stocked music (seriously, we have more than ever!).

For Friday (Black Friday) we’ll have the tent set up in the back and the entrance for the day will be through the tent. If you are one of those planning to arrive early please do queue up by the back door (we might have you all move slightly when we arrive to set up the tent at 4AM).

All right, so this update is split into a bunch of sections. The first section of the update is the Black Friday RSD selections. The second section of the update is our usual weekly new stock update. Before those sections we of course have this quick introductory section, the DJ line-up and a quick link to our old gift suggestions blog post. Oh, and then at the tail end of this blog a teaser about some sale specials we’ve added beyond what has been advertised!

We’ve called on some of our friends and supporters (friends who are supporters!) to play some records (and in at least one case tapes) for you all on Friday. The DJ’ing kicks off at 10AM and will go until our closer decides he’s done.

Here’s the DJ line-up:
10AM-12PM Anthony Fantano (of The Needle Drop)
12PM-1:30PM Kryssi Battalene (of Elm City Recordings, Colorguard, fun stuff)
1:30PM-3PM Mathew “Chip” Crane (of Hartford Party Starters Union, Deep Trouble, fun things)
3PM-4:30PM DJ Oling (Colin of Rise And Fall Records and now mostly of stuff and things)
4:30PM-6:30PM Tim Daltrey (Iron Hand, Blessed State, Yale Offices, things, but definitely no stuff)
6:30PM-8PM DJ Pineapple (Sundays he helps out here at RSR!)
