at Redscroll Records

Here are some of the latest used arrivals at the shop. Keep in mind this doesn’t include any of the CDs or many of the LPs in the general rock/pop/jazz/anything-in-the-back-room that we get in. This list also builds over the course of a week so sometimes some items are no longer in stock by the time this is posted. We try to avoid that, but it happens. Call ahead if there’s a particular release you’re curious about. These are the in-store prices – if you’d like to find any of these online please visit us here: http://www.discogs.com/seller/Redscroll

Jungle Jungle

(XL)
Here’s the debut full-length from a British modern soul collective that sounds particularly lush and confident for a band that had only been around for a year when this was recorded. Its core members are lifelong friends Josh Lloyd-Watson and Tom McFarland (also known as “J” and “T”) whose kinetic, made-for-nighttime music always sounds alive. “Busy Earnin’” is one of my favorite tracks, swelling with a blaze of irresistible funk energy.

Ali Love P.U.M.P.

(Crosstown Rebels)
Also a member of deep house acts Hot Natured and Infinity Ink (as well as having provided vocals for The Chemical Brothers’ “Do It Again” and Justice’s “Civilization”), London-based musician singer-songwriter Ali Love is all about glimmering and pulsating dance-floor songs on his latest album. Some of my favorites are the more ambient ones, including the pretty synth-filled “City Clouds” or the even fluffier, laid-back Kenny Glasgow collaboration “Right On,” allowing one’s mind to unwind after experiencing this record’s variety.
