Record Store Day & 8th Anniversary Sale Announcement

On April 12th the store turns 8 years old! As usual we’ll be having a week long sale. The sale will run from April 11th to April 17th.

On April 18th it will be Record Store Day and we will once again be participating. We’ll be opening at 8AM and closing at 10PM.  We’ll have a special store set up different from any other time before (more on that later).  All the usual bells and whistles (goodie bags, food trucks). We’ll have a ton of the special releases.

You can view a list of all the releases of the day here:

We’ll post a list of what we actually have in the store the night before (on the April 17th Update). We’ve ordered basically everything, but we won’t know what we’ll actually get until it shows up.

Redscroll-8th-Anniversary SQRL Close Up

We’re going big with the 8th Anniversary Sale this year. Big discounts: 30% off all used stock, 50% off clearance items, used CDs for $1 and 15% off new stock.  To be clear, the sale will actually end on the Friday before Record Store Day. We’re starting it earlier than usual and ending it that day for a variety of reasons, but most of all to try and make every day of the week ahead of time a breeze to get in and get those deals.

On Record Store Day (April 18th) we will again have the RSD specific line in the back of the store, but instead of it leading to the front of the store it will just be it’s own sort of pop-up shop. The tent will be in the lot. We’ll have a register out there and all the RSD items will be in it. Regular shoppers will still be able to come in through the front door and shop throughout the day as well, but now without the congestion of the RSD specific titles at the front of the store. Long story short: regular record shopping in the store, Record Store Day shopping in the tent!

26th Of November 2014 Update of New and Key Restocked Items
BLACKOUT AT SUNRISE SALE EDITION (With Black Friday RSD Special Releases)
at Redscroll Records

(Link to sale details should you need a refresher.)

Hi all, we just wanted to write a quick note and say happy holidays and explain briefly how Friday and its special releases work. Happy Holidays! Happy Thanksgiving / Indigenous People’s Day! Enjoy your day Thursday and rest up to get a jump on things Friday.

Note 1. Friday – we open at 6AM. We can contractually start selling RSD Black Friday items at 8AM (and we will be abiding by that strictly as we have no desire to break that contract). There will be 2 lines. The line to enter at 6AM does not allow you to keep a space in line in the line for the 8AM line. They will be clearly delineated and if you’re coming for normal holiday shopping you’ll have first picks at the regular stock for 2 hours!

Note 2. Please be understanding that we have ordered every desirable release that we could think of or that anyone has asked about (true fact – not hyperbole or even slight exaggeration). We did not get everything we ordered. Some things will be arriving late. The ones we know about are listed below with a note after them (those three items should be here Friday afternoon). Invariably, some things will show up next week, but let’s not actually count on that (if it happens we’ll let everyone know through our social medias). Some things are so super limited that when they allocate them to all the different stores some stores just get left out. It happens continuously. We’ve been pretty fortunate and had a strong streak of getting most of the major high-desirable titles. This go-round, we fear we must mention we did not get any DEATH GRIPS LPs. NONE! We ordered many many more than 0, but we got none. There were just 900 of those LPs and there are definitely several thousand stores participating, but it’s not the be all & end all. We’ll push on and have a great day. If we ever can track some of those down we will (as with other titles).  We hope you understand and come out for all the other great music we have, eat some chocolate, score some deals and retire all to our homes to collapse into a cacophony of blissful stereo emanations.

RECORD STORE DAY and 18th Of April 2014 Update

RECORD STORE DAY and 18th Of April 2014 Update of New and Key Restocked Items

Welcome to the annual Record Store Day Update! In this update you will be able to read and salivate over the list of available items in our store for Record Store Day (April 19th, 2014; Hours 9AM-10PM; full details here). If you’ve been through before on RSD you know the deal and what to expect, but just in case you’re new or need a refresher I’m going to go over a few things.

As much as we’d like to have every possible thing on hand in quantities exactly matching the demand it just can’t work that way. We order a tremendous amount as do many other stores. We are allocated certain amounts of things and ultimately we get a lot because we put in the leg work. That said, we get less than we order and in some cases we miss out on items completely (trust us, it’s not purposeful by any stretch). We want everyone to be happy in the end so be excellent to each other.

If you are looking for a particular item we’d suggest showing up early. I’d suggest a time, but undoubtedly folks will show up before then as well. Once we open at 9AM we’ll keep the line moving at a steady pace snaking around the store to the RSD items (1 of each RSD title per person). We’ll do our best in every way we can to keep all in line happy and moving along at a steady pace (we seem to get better at it each successive year).  Please also note that certain areas of parking will be marked off for Food Trucks and for our neighbors. We’ll have someone working in the lot if you need help finding a place to park, but if our lot is full there is ample street parking all around including a town lot across from the front of the store and a few business lots within walking distance as well.

The Hardcore Sweet and G-Monkey Mobile Food Trucks will be here at 9AM and 10AM respectively as well so you can work up your hunger and satiate it heartily! Both are delicious and award winning operations. Our neighbors 2 doors down from Sweet Cioccolata will also be set up in a tent with their sweeeeeeet chocolates.

Goodie bags will be available for the first 100 or so (that number is not exact, but close) folks to check out. Bags differ greatly in content and are generally full of fun stuff from such friends as: Lovecraft Tattoo, Manic Productions, Arc Agency, Brass City Boss Sounds, Shogun Screenprinting, No Idea, No Sleep, Run For Cover, Poisoned Mind Records, Mendition Of The Quay, Jay Prince, Bags Unlimited, Telegraph Recording Co., Safety Meeting, Deathwish, The Audio Store, Radio 104.1, Heartworm Press, Translation Loss, and a whole lot more!
